.KEY MESSAGES...

* Strong high pressure will result in historic March warmth this
  week.

* Dry and mild weather is favored through next weekend, but a more
  unsettled pattern is possible for the final week of March.

&&

.DISCUSSION...

Light east breezes and mild temperatures will round out the weekend
before attention turns to record-breaking warmth this week.
Unseasonably strong high pressure begins to overspread the region
Monday, sharply increasing temperatures by around 5-10F compared to
today. While records may just be out of reach, daytime highs are
projected to be in the mid-60s to upper 70s Monday, which is about
15-20F above seasonal averages.

The Tuesday through Friday timeframe will feature the warmest
temperatures as daytime highs climb well into the 70s and 80s.
Records will be shattered during these days as temperatures will
resemble those more typical of early to mid June. Reno continues to
have a high likelihood (as much as 85%) of reaching/exceeding 83F
and setting a new all-time record for warmest March day. Area
waterways will continue to running fast and cold with additional
snowmelt, so avoid cooling off in them!

While temperatures will continue to trend well above normal next
weekend, high pressure will finally depart eastward and allow for
steady cooling into the weekend. We`ll be devoid of any
precipitation through next weekend, but there continues to be
hints of a pattern change that may bring wetter weather during the
last week of March.

&&

.AVIATION...

Widespread VFR conditions with light east breezes prevail today.
Significant warming this week may pose density altitude impacts for
western Nevada terminals, particularly after Monday when
temperatures are warmest. Reductions to slantwise visibilities will
also be possible each morning due to inversions and subsequent haze.
